A water main replacement project will directly impact access and parking at The Church of the Assumption property through the end of July.

The St. Paul Regional Water Services has begun the replacement of the water main along the north side of the street from Dorothy Day Place to Exchange Street, church staff announced in the bulletin. The sidewalk from the west parking lot is closed. Because of construction parking, trucks and equipment will block a lot of street parking through much of July.

The church is located at 51 West 51st St., St. Paul, Minnesota.

The original cast iron water main was installed in 1888 and has experienced repeated main breaks over the years, the bulletin reported. The water main runs under the garage on the west side of the campus. Workers will use “pipe bursting” as a way to lessen the impact on the road surface.

Visitors will notice temporary water piping in place over the sidewalk. A lamp post has been temporarily removed.
