Church of the Assumption in St. Paul will conduct a Habitat for Humanity project August 11 through 21, the church announced in its July 12 weekly bulletin.

The project was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic but is back on track, the church said. Safety measures will be in place, including face masks, shorter work days and smaller teams.

The project is located at 417 Maryland Ave. in St. Paul. Habitat’s vision is “a world where everyone has a decent place to live,” the announcement said.

Under the Habitat program, homeowners receive an affordable mortgage and financial education and they also help build the home.

“Habitat for Humanity is not a ‘giveway’ charity program,” the bulletin said. It pitched the project to volunteers who are “feeling restless and looking for a way to give to the community.”

You can be handy with tools or just willing to make snacks and lunches, the church said. Volunteers can work the entire work or only part of it.
