The Rev. Tom Wilson announced on Facebook that he will stay on as pastor of All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville for another six years.
"The last [podcast] I did made reference to hinge moments — those important moments in our life that bring on great change, whether decided by ourselves or circumstances around us or others," Wilson said in a Facebook video. "Literally, as I was recording that message, a significant hinge moment in my life and in yours was happening."
Wilson said that after finishing up that podcast, he received a letter from Archbishop Bernard Hebda assigning him to another six years as pastor of All Saints.

"I wanted to let you know that," Wilson said. "I am very grateful for the assignment and the archbishop's confidence in me to be here and to be a shepherd of this community for another six years. I know a lot of people have been asking about my status. Typically, our system in the archdiocese is that pastors are assigned for six-year terms and are typically not assigned much beyond two consecutive terms."
Wilson said that system is slowly beginning to change.
"Several priests are in similar situations as I am – coming up on 12 years and to be reassigned to their parishes," Wilson said. "I do realize that that information and knowing that has created a lot of questions and people have been asking me about that personally for many months now."
Wilson said he was glad he finally could give his parishioners an answer.
"As you know, priests serve at the will of the archbishop and the needs of the diocese that they serve," Wilson said. "I’m no different. I am grateful that Archbishop Hebda, after listening to the personnel board who consulted with me and key parishioners and staff here at All Saints has decided to reappoint me as pastor for another six years."
Wilson said his effective date for his third term was July 1.
"Please continue to pray for me as your pastor as I pray for you as the people that God has called me to serve in the church," he said. "Be trusting in our good God, be generous with God and each other and be not afraid."
