In her July 21 blog post for St. Benedict's Monastery in St. Joseph, Sr. Renee Domeier asked, "What would it be like to really love the world?"

An ancient storyteller might believe that to love the world, one would "create" or "find ceremony" in everything in life, no matter how big or small.

"Ceremonies have power," Domeier wrote. "They fuel our beginnings, values, send-offs into new, bigger life and responsibilities."

Not only do communities create ceremonies, she said, but those rituals develop communities, whether for an installation, jubilee, retreat or funeral. She said that her guru stated these shared moments, whether joining for prayer or a walk, are "when life is noticed and applauded."

"In this moment, we come to know who we are, and to whom we belong," Domeier concluded.
