The Rev. Victor Valencia of the Church of St. Jerome in Maplewood reflected on the parable of King Solomon in the July 26 weekly bulletin

Valencia wrote that we, like King Solomon, should ask God for wisdom and be willing to chase after that end, as wisdom and understanding are keys to comprehending how we should respond to God.

“In our world today, everything may seem chaotic and uncertain,” Valencia wrote.”There is fear and anxiety. Persons with faith know who our God is. We believe that when God is with us everything will go well no matter what.”

Valencia said that the greatest treasure that we can gain is the Kingdom of God, and that the best way to ensure we are on that path is to search our hearts: Are we willing to give up all we have for God?

“Let us continue to journey together to discover the great pearl that is Jesus and keep him in our hearts,” Valencia wrote.
