In the midst of the turmoil of life, faith remains the one thing that does not change.
Jenny Carlson, director of Family Faith Formation at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Minneapolis, recently referenced the parish motto, "As the world spins, the cross stands firm," in discussing the Family Faith Formation ministry during the time of the novel coronavirus. She addressed the ministry's role by breaking down its name in the church's Aug. 16 bulletin.
Family can have both the biological context and a broader context, Carlson said. And so, family faith formation isn't simply for those with children, but for the entire parish family to come together.
In discussing faith, it is not just about having faith that God will see to the well-being of the faithful, but also that the things God does in our lives are good, and looking for the hand of God in every aspect, Carlson continued.
And in addressing formation, Carlson noted the aspect of daily practice— regular and intentional growth as a Catholic in the things that comprise the faith.
