CATHOLIC STUDENT UNITED AT UMN: Here is our most recent Gospel reflection by Lauren

Announcements

Press release submission Sep 1, 2020

Catholic Student United At UMN issued the following announcement on Aug. 30.

Here is our most recent Gospel reflection by Lauren:

"As human beings, we have the freedom from the Lord to live and act as earthly beings. In that sense, we have been given the gift to live in the moment and love the environment, other people, and other earthly beings. We have the freedom to enjoy all that God has created for us. The earth is a joyous temple of God's gifts. Even though I have, and many others, have grown to love these things, and found peace in the natural environment, there is much more that God wants for us.

As Jesus says to Peter in the gospel this week, "You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do." I believe that God gave us this beautiful earth as a temporary home so that He could develop a fiery love within us for the people, animals, and nature around us. However, God had an even more wonderful plan in mind, which He explains as everlasting life with Him in heaven.

As I read the readings and gospel this week, God challenged me to think deeper and recognize myself as a human being but also containing a beautiful soul that desires to be with Him in heaven. So, moving forward, I challenge myself and others to enjoy life in the moment while also preparing for an even more gracious gift in heaven."
