The pastor of the Church of St. Patrick of Edina recently reminded his parishioners that they are partners in the changes the church is undergoing in order to share the faith.

“We have and want to share with you our enthusiasm for the love of Christ!” the Rev. Allen Kuss, pastor of St. Patrick, said in his column “From the Pastor’s Desk” in the church’s Aug. 23 bulletin.

Even though the church experienced challenges such as having a pared-down Mass schedule during the summer because of COVID-19-related restrictions, some outside activities occurred, including Exposition/Benediction services, concerts and clearing out buckthorn from the woods surrounding the rectory on St. Patrick’s Lane.

“Now, as we begin catching the subtle signs of the summer season ending, our thoughts are turning naturally to preparing and planning for our Parish’s new season of activities,” Kuss said in the bulletin.

Among the changes, the church won’t have a garage sale this year. It needs volunteer catechists for programs that take place on Wednesday nights, and it is updating its website.

“We are working to improve and update our website to reflect a more contemporary feeling as we understand how the COVID world has changed how we communicate,” Kuss said. “Work is proceeding on the specifics of the design as we recognize the need to strengthen our communications with you."

There’s also a new publisher for the bulletin, Kuss said. The church will have a new bulletin beginning the weekend of Sept. 13 that will be printed by LPi.

“We want you to be our partners in this effort so you too can share the faith with other people in your lives,” Kuss said in the bulletin.

The church, which was founded in 1857 by Irish Catholic immigrants, has nearly 2,200 parishioners, the website said.
