Deacon Scott Schwalbe of Kellogg has been assigned to St. Joachim and Immaculate Conceptions Parishes by Bishop Quinn, Pastor William Becker said in the Sept. 27 bulletin.
Schwalbe was ordained in Winona recently and will be oriented in parish life by Becker in the coming months.
In addition to welcoming a new deacon, Fr. Becker said Thursday's 12:05 p.m. masses returned in September. Until further notice, Wednesday's masses will stay at 7 p.m. He also announced the cancellation of the Fall Festival.
"The Fall Festival at St. Joachim is cancelled for this year, as is the Fall Dinner at Conception," he said in the bulletin. "Uncertainty around the pandemic remains high, and planning is difficult for our leadership teams, as well as our commercial sponsors and vendors. We thank all who have contributed to these events in the past, and we look forward to a future opportunity when circumstances permit."
St. Joachim, located in Plainview, and Immaculate Conception, in Kellogg, parishes are both accepting donations during these times of hardship, which can be made at the Parish Center, by mail or online.
