As the Advent season begins during a time with a lot of uncertainty, a Hibbing pastor has encouraged people to make strides towards God.
The Rev. Gabriel Waweru of Blessed Sacrament Church said it's important for people to pause and talk to God, whether it's by attending Mass or prayers like the rosary, the parish bulletin reported.
"We have changed the way we worship, the way we socialize, our education and even how we do business," Waweru said in the bulletin. "Family life has changed due to the man pandemic precautions. You can see there is a longing for the end to these life. We need answers and solutions."
He called on parishioners to see the holy season as a chance to turn their hearts to the Lord. He said by participating in the Holy Eucharist during Advent, people give God the gift of his son which he gave to all. He said by doing this, God will help people get through these challenging times.
"The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at advent proclaims the truth that God knew of our needs and he came to save us," he said, the bulletin reported.
Waweru said hope and joy come from celebrating Mass and receiving the gift of salvation. He said that both sadness and sorrow disappear with the coming of Jesus. Catholics need to take the time to celebrate Mass because it helps get rid of any darkness with the promise of an everlasting life after death in Heaven.
The congregation was encouraged to pray the rosary each day. He said Mary, who gave birth to Jesus on Christmas, knew the true meaning behind the season and will help direct those who pray to her through tough times.
"Through the prayers of the rosary, Mary will ensure our Advent season is filled with hope and from this hope will come joy," he said in the bulletin.
