National Vocation Awareness Week continues through Saturday, having run Nov. 7-13 this year.
To those considering a role in the Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis recommends reciting the Prayer to St. Joseph to Know One’s Vocation.
“How can you know your vocation?” the Archdiocese tweeted. “This prayer may help."
National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) is observed each November by the Catholic Church in the United States, according to the Archdiocese's website. The mission of NVAW is to promote vocations within the Catholic Church, including the priesthood, diaconate and other forms of religious life, and “to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.”
The Prayer to St. Joseph to Know One’s Vocation reads: “O Great Saint Joseph, you were completely obedient to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Obtain for me the grace to know the state of life that God in His providence has chosen for me. Since my happiness on earth, and perhaps even my final happiness in heaven, depends on this choice,
let me not be deceived in making it. Obtain for me the light to know God’s Will, to carry it out faithfully, and to choose the vocation which will lead me to a happy eternity.”
