Robert Barron, bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester and founder of Word On Fire, has introduced the Word on Fire Catholic Ministries’ Bible Project.
Founded years ago by Barron, Word On Fire came from the bishop's idea that everyone should have access to homilies at all times. From there, he created a website and started posting homilies for easy access. The organization effectively shares the Gospel with millions of people each year through podcasts, videos, books, articles, Scripture studies and Gospel meditations.
"Friends, the Bible is the key to evangelization," Barron said in a Jan. 24 Twitter post. "Read this article by Julie Asher in which I explain more about how the Word on Fire Bible Project will transform the way people engage with Scripture and lead them to Christ."
The Word on Fire Catholic Ministries’ Bible Project consists of a total of seven volumes. Printed on high-quality paper and containing religious art, the bibles strive to provide readers with more by combining Scripture with scholarly commentary from Barron, the Fathers of the Church, saints, mystics, theologians, scholars and modern Catholic luminaries; Asher’s Catholic Review article said.
The first two volumes of the Bible Project have already sold 300,000 copies, the article said. The first volume contains the four Gospels, and the second volume contains the Acts of the Apostles, the Letters of the New Testament and the Book of Revelation. The Word On Fire Bible Project is funded by donors who receive a special gift based on their specific amount of contribution.
The third volume of the Word On Fire Bible Project features the first five books of the Old Testament and will be available next summer. Known as the Pentateuch, the collection consists of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. The volume will also include more than 50 works of art.
