Winona-Rochester Bishop Robert Barron has joined forces with the Catholic-based app Hallow to launch an immersive summer prayer challenge.

“Friends, join me in the ‘Summer with the Psalms’ challenge!” Barron, who founded the Word on Fire website, said in a tweet. “For 30 days, we will pray through all 150 Psalms. If you feel spiritually dry or lost, it might be time to open up the Church’s songbook—and sing.”

In this unique challenge, participants will embark on a journey to explore all 150 psalms in the Book of Psalms within a span of 30 days, the Hallow website said.

Hallow, co-founded by Alex Jones in 2018, is a prayer and meditation app that was created to assist Catholics in cultivating a stronger connection to their faith through daily prayer and meditation, even amid their busy lives. The app features various types of prayers and meditation techniques, including Lectio Divina and Christian meditation, according to a Hallow blog

"I'd like to invite you to join me in prayer this summer on Hallow, the number one Catholic prayer app in the world," Barron said in a video he posted to his Twitter. "Join me as we journey through one of the most powerful books in the Bible, the Psalms, together we'll learn how to rely on praise, and build a strong relationship with God. Join me in prayer this summer and download Hallow for free and may God richly bless you.”

The prayer challenge offered through the Hallow app requires just 10 minutes of daily commitment.

The app can be downloaded for free, and it provides a complimentary 14-day trial. Hallow explained that the Psalms encompass various categories such as thanksgiving, praise, wisdom, and more. The daily Psalm challenge involves reading the Psalm, engaging in meditation and prayer, and concluding with a period of rest and reflection.
