Ascension Catholic School in Minneapolis offered a virtual "grand tour" for anyone interested in enrolling their child next term.

Ascension Catholic School Principal Benito Matias provides the virtual grand tour, according to the school's website.

"It’s all you need to know about enrolling your child and becoming part of our Ascension family," the website says.

Ascension School is located on Dupont Avenue North.

The series of five brief videos provide information to introduce the school to the viewer and about parental involvement, character building, how Ascension has responded to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and why to choose Ascension.

"Our graduating eighth graders are often at or above the state average for their grade-level proficiency in both Math and Reading," Matias said in the final video in the series. "We're never in the business of bashing other schools to prop ourselves up but that doesn't change the reality that, unfortunately, many schools that the parents we serve have access to just do not have those same types of results that they can count on from."

It always has been Ascension Catholic School's position not to turn away a family based on their ability to pay, Matias said in the video.

"We have worked very, very hard to work with each individual family to make a Catholic education affordable for that family," he said in the YouTube video. "We don't want the cost to defer any family."

Like other schools across the country, Ascension Catholic School closed last spring following government-mandated shutdown order.

Earlier this month, Ascension Catholic School's 43 eighth-grade class of 2020 graduates received their degrees in a two-day drive-up ceremony in the school's parking lot to "Pomp and Circumstance" with teachers holding up signs and cheering. Each graduate received their diploma and posed for their graduation photo before returning to their family vehicle, according to information on the school's Facebook page.
