The Diocese of Crookston will host a High School Youth Rally March 27 at Sacred Heart Church and School in East Grand Forks.

In a Facebook post Feb. 7, the diocese announced the event, which will feature the Most Reverend Andrew Cozzens, Aly Aleigha, Jon Martin, Mark Hollcraft and Tania Vergara-Congora. The rally will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude with a 5 p.m. mass and 6 p.m. supper.

“This year’s theme is ‘The Now of God’ based on Pope Francis’ encouragement to our youth in Christus Vivit. Keep walking, keep living the faith and sharing it. And do not forget, you are not the tomorrow, you are not the ‘meantime’, you are the Now of God,” the Diocese of Crookston wrote on Facebook.

The rally is open to all students in grades 9-12, the post states. Interested participants may register by contacting their parish youth minister or director of religious education.

According to the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis website, Pope Francis appointed Andrew Cozzens to the Diocese of Crookston on Oct. 18. He was installed as the 8th Bishop of Crookston Dec. 6.

Christus Vivit is an apostolic exhortation Pope Francis wrote “to young people and to the entire people of God,” the Vatican states. Chapter three, titled “You are the ‘now’ of God,” acknowledges that young people share in the responsibility of the growth of the family, society and the Church. Pope Francis encourages parents, pastors, and other guides of young people to listen to them attentively, and writes, “Each young person’s heart should thus be considered 'holy ground', a bearer of seeds of divine life."
